I know we all know the saying “Mama knows best.” Personally, I have heard my mom say that plenty of times and I would never believe her in the moment. As I get older, I am starting to finally realize how true that statement actually is. Before I start listing some of the things my mom has taught me, I just want to thank her. Mom, you really do give amazing advice to me. Even though it took me a little while to fully agree and understand the advice you were giving to me, I want to say how much it means to me, and how much you mean to me. You are the reason I have grown into the woman I am today. I love you mama.

- Be the bigger person
This one was easy for me to learn, because I grew up with my mom always being the bigger person. She taught me to never stoop down to an immature level. I would sometimes come home crying to her about certain people’s actions towards me, and she taught me to not let them make me cry, because I don’t deserve that. Nobody does.

2. If your mom believes a friend of yours is not good for you, she’s usually always right.
I had to learn this one the hard way more than one time. There would be times where I would tell my mom certain things my “friends” would do to me, and she would say, “I never thought she was a good friend to you.” Yet for some reason, I always gave my “friend” the benefit of the doubt. Now that I am older, those people are no longer in my life, and I am doing better than ever. I am a lot happier without the toxicity. I am sorry I did not listen to you earlier mom, but hey, at least I finally did.

3. Always remind those who you love, that you love them.
This was also a lesson I learned the hard way. I lost many loved ones in my life that I wish I could just say I love to one more time. Life is short. One day they are here, and the next they are gone.
I love you mom.

4. Work hard for yourself, not to impress others.
I used to always try to impress others. Whether it be my teachers, my peers, or my family. Now that I started to work harder for myself, I gained a lot more confidence. I love that you taught me this mom, because I don’t know what I would do without that advice.

5. Follow your dreams. You can do anything you put your mind to.
I have to definitely give my mom the credit for where I am today. She is making it possible for me to achieve my dream goals. I am studying at one the top fashion schools in the United States. I am able to continue my dreams of creating my own makeup line, and be a freelance makeup artist, all because of her. All the times I would annoy her to take me makeup shopping, has really paid off. There would times she probably spent more on makeup for me, that she could have used else-where, yet she did it to make me happy. That means the world to me mom. I am pursuing my dreams that I have had since I was a little girl, and it’s all because of my mom.
