First Year at FIT

10 months, 304 days, 7,300 hours later and I am officially done with my first year of college. The amount I have experienced, the amount I have seen, and the amount I learned in these 10 months, has been more than I have in my entire life. I have been able to live with my best friend of 15 years, in NYC, which does not get to happen to everyone. I am beyond grateful for all the experiences I had here in Manhattan, and wanted to dedicate my first blog post to my favorite memories.

The first few months at FIT were very eventful. The first week of school, me and my friends were able to go to the VMA’s red carpet. Well… not technically… but we tried to get as close as we can. But hey, it was a pretty cool experience. We were able to see Bazzi, and the backstreet boys perform live. In October, my friend Sydney and I went to Ipsy’s Beauty Generation. This beauty convention was one of the best experiences of my entire life. I met a few of my favorite YouTubers that I have admired so much. The amount of free makeup they gave out made me feel like a kid in a candy store. I will 100% be back at Ipsy’s Beauty Generation next year.

In the next few months, I was able to go to a couple of broadway plays, and concerts. I saw Anastasia, Waitress, Travis Scott, and Amine. I love going to plays and concerts so much because it is a few hours of pure entertainment, and time away from any stress.

My favorite aspect of my first year of college, was getting my first job in the makeup industry. I am a makeup artist at NYX Professional Makeup in Union Square. I have never been so proud of myself after receiving the acceptance phone call. Working with makeup has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. The fact that I am able to live my dreams at only 18 years old is absolutely insane, and I am beyond blessed. I also recently got certified as a makeup artist, which I am so happy about. My journey has just begun, and I am eager to see what the future holds.

I have always heard those older than me say that you meet your true friends in college. I would always say that would not happen to me. I never truly believed them, until it actually did happened to me. My roommate and I met a group of 3 girls, and now I can say I was 100% wrong. These girls will be my life long friends. They were right. Lina, Katie, and Megan are 3 girls that will be my life-long friends, along with my already life-long friend Ashley. These girls have allowed me to open up about things that nobody else has. They are all ears open at all times, and I appreciate all they have done for me these past 10 months. I could not have asked for a better group of girls to spend every day with.
