Letter To My Younger Self

Dear young Kristina,

I want to share with you all of the experiences, hardships, accomplishments, and lessons you are going to encounter in your life.

The life you live innocently playing with your toys does not last as long as you think. Life becomes more than figuring out what heels to place on your barbie. Cherish those moments, because girl you don’t know what life has in store for you.

First off, you are going to be a dancer for 16 years. Yes I know, that sounds like a life time, and it pretty much takes up all the time in your life. You will be at dance more than you are at home, but don’t worry it will all be worth it. You will meet girls and boys who are going to become more like your family rather than your friends. Keep those friends around. Oh, and yes you will get a solo one day, and your own sister is going to choreograph it for you. How lucky are you ?

Yes, you will go through an awkward stage, but don’t worry, you will laugh about it a couple years later. You may gain some pounds, wear nothing but justice clothes, and think it’s pretty cool to get the feather in your hair that all of your friends have. It was cool then, but trust me you’ll shake your head later on, but it’s okay get all the feathers you want, because one day you will miss not having a care in the world what people think of you.

Ah now onto your teenage years.. Your mind and your body will go through it girl. You are going to start getting very insecure about the way you look, and what people think about you. The insecurity never truly goes away, but you will learn how to cope with it. You will have your first crush, first boyfriend, first kiss, first football game, first party, and so much more. You will be a part of SING, and be one of the dance captains of dance company, which will be the best part of high school. You will make a lot of friends there. You will meet so many new people, that will come and go. It’s okay. Don’t hurt yourself over losing people. People that come into your life are either a blessing, or a lesson. Trust me most of them are lessons, but you will meet some true friends on the way to. You will also get to experience prom twice, and you may get a special scholarship at your graduation.

College will be the best 4 years of your life. You are going to go to your dream school, FIT. You will doubt yourself a lot in the application process, but look at you, you made it. You will meet your life-long friends there. You will learn to express yourself, and branch out into different hobbies. You will even get your first makeup job in manhattan. I know, crazy right ! One of your dreams came true. You used to film makeup tutorials when you were just 4 years old, and you have come full circle. Oh and you will also grow the guts to start your own Youtube channel.

Lastly, you have to remember that life is short. Spend all the time you can with those that you love. Remind those you love, that you love them. They will not be here forever. You are going to lose some loved ones along the way, and I am not going to lie, you are going to grieve hard. It will all get better in time, but live your life to the fullest each day with your family. Family is forever, remember that.

All I want you to know is that no matter how hard life will get, I promise you it will get better. You are exactly where you are supposed to be, and you will experience more in the first 19 years of your life than you would’ve ever imagined. Just when you are thinking of giving up, please push even harder. You have no idea how many great things God has in store for you. You will prove those wrong who have pushed and shoved you down, and told you that you were not good enough. You will show them what they are missing.

This is just the beginning of your journey. Keep on dreaming because the sky is the limit.

Love,

Future Kristina.
